Michelle D. Wendell, DVM, MS
Dr. Michelle Wendell grew up in western Nebraska in a very rural community. Veterinary Medicine has always been her passion from a very early age. Dr. Wendell graduated with her BA at Chadron State College in Nebraska and with her Master’s Degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University.
After graduating from Veterinary School, Dr. Wendell practiced and eventually served as Hospital Director of Sunset Eastern Animal Hospital in Las Vegas. Upon moving to Northwest Arkansas in 2004, Dr. Wendell worked at the Animal Emergency Clinic of NWA and Best Friends Animal Hospital. In February 2011, Dr. Wendell purchased Southwest Pet Hospital and is proud to say she plans to be there for a very long time. Northwest Arkansas reminds Dr. Wendell of her previous home in Colorado and she is excited to call NWA home.
Dr. Wendell thrives on the many aspects of veterinary medicine from the challenges of internal and emergency medicine, to surgery, dermatology, animal behavior, and practice management.
Dr. Wendell founded Recycled Rovers Rescue in 2011. She is honored to say Southwest Pet Hospital is the home to Recycled Rovers Rescue. Recycled Rovers rescues dogs in need from high kill shelters and brings them to safety until they can be adopted into their forever homes.
At home she is joined by her canine family of Blitz, Rayne and Mercedes, three German Shepherds, Ben, the Jack Russell Terrier, and the assortment of foster dogs she cares for.
In her spare time, Dr. Wendell enjoys animal rescue, the outdoors, dog training, volunteering and spending time with her family.
